1. Khadim Siddhartha Roy Burman established Khadim in 1981. Its current headquarters are located in Kolkata. It was founded as S.N Footwear Industries Pvt. Ltd. Before 1993, they were involved in wholesale and distribution of branded footwear. After, they came involved in retailing. They emerged to be a favored brand. In 2017, it was the second footwear company with highest number of stores in India. And in 2019, it established a wholly owned subsidiary in Bangladesh. 2. Red Chief Founded by Manoj Gyanchandani in 1997. It has its headquarters in Kanpur. Known since 1995, they began their primary businesses with a single production until called Ghari in 1988. Dedication and hard work paved the way growing demand of this high quality footwear. It has two manufacturing units and their own tannery. In between they ran into losses but the current CEO used the tactic of brand sourcing to revive Red Chief. 3. Action Founded by HK Agarwal in 1983. It has its headquarters in Delhi. The 'Action School Time' jingle is embedded into every 90s kid's memory. It was widely accepted by the Indian market and are a go to choice for school shoes. 4. Sreeleathers Founded by Suresh Chandra Dey as an Swadeshi option to British products. Shoes at that time were not available for lower to middle income people. He championed the cause of self-reliance. Sreeleathers was founded in Jamshedpur during 1952 by the name Cat Financial Services Ltd. From there, the business was expanded to various parts of India. 5. Paragon Paragon started in the year 1975 in Kerala. Known most for its slippers and flip-flops, it also produces running shoes, heels, etc. Total production capacity is 400,000 pairs. It out sources from Calicut and Delhi. While factories are located in Karnataka, Telangana, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The footwears are made from PVC, EVA and PU.
